    Job Description – Freelance Medical Writer


    The primary responsibility is to work cohesively with our entire Expert Perspectives team to ensure that all medical content is developed on-spec, on-time, and within the budget range for hours as provided by the team. The content must accurately reflect input from Expert Panel faculty received during the content-development conference calls. In addition, it must be evidence-based, of high editorial quality, and meet the specific requirements of Expert Perspectives. The position does not need be based at our corporate headquarters in New Hope, PA, and can be worked remotely by the writer. 

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Work with the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) to develop the necessary background materials prior to the Expert Panel Faculty conference calls
    • Participate in the Expert Panel Faculty conference calls to gain a solid understanding of the faculty members medical messaging to be contained in the Expert Perspectives articles
    • Participate in follow-up debriefs with the EIC following the faculty conference calls
    • Utilizing personal notes taken during the faculty calls, and the written transcript of those calls provided by the Expert Perspectives team, develop draft medical articles that meet the specs provided by the Expert Perspectives team and submit them to the EIC
    •  Participate in the content review activities with the EIC and the Medical Editor and make any revisions requested
    • Utilize the WorkFront project management software according to team specs in conducting all workflow activities
    • Submit invoices for hourly-based compensation using the SOPs required by Omnicom for invoicing
    • Collaborate well within and across the Expert Perspectives team

    Key Requirements 

    • Most important is 3+ years of experience as a medical writer working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or medical device markets
    • Advanced life sciences degree preferred (MD, PharmD, PhD), or equivalent doctoral, post-doctoral, internship/residency/fellowship experience is preferred but not required
    • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team setting
    • Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty
    • Proven experience in managing projects and working cross-functionally within an organization
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong listening and analytical skills
    • Strong editing skills and attention to detail; familiarity with AMA Style a plus
    • Proficient with Outlook®, Word®, and Excel®
    • Superior time management skills to work effectively within demanding timelines
    • A successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
