     Overview of Job Function: The Digital Marketing Specialist ensures that MMG leverages cutting-edge technologies in search engine marketing (SEM) strategies; search engine optimization (SEO) marketing; advocacy outreach; social media; and community outreach initiatives to drive traffic to specific studies on behalf of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) on-site at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.


    Essential Functions:

    1. Manage and implement effective digital campaigns and work collaboratively with the outreach team and Clinical Research Director to develop and execute all optimal strategies.
    2. Maximize recruitment tactic opportunities with current NIDA clinical research teams: deliver sound plans and oversee flawless execution.
    3. Monitor analytics within digital media campaigns to identify actionable strategies and feedback
    4. Conduct A/B tests to enhance outcomes to hit Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
    5. Bring creative ideas on lead generation, channel partnership, and other avenues of growth.
    6. Research best practices and trends for social media engagement as well as overall design of social media accounts
    7. Help manage and develop digital tracking and advertising for various campaigns.
    8. Update the team on trends, competitive moves, and best practice analysis.
    9. Develop and implement a community relations strategy to engage the local community.
    10. Present outreach strategies and research to clients, senior management, and colleagues.
    11. Oversee budget management—negotiate contracts/agreements, online outreach purchases, track spending, monitor changes


    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or marketing
    • 2+ years in the digital media ecosystem
    • Working knowledge in Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, YouTube Ads, LinkedIn Ads
    • Experience with social media analytics, including Google Analytics and Facebook Insights
    • Ability to compile and analyze search data and metrics to make informed decisions regarding campaign direction
    • Ability to perform click through rate, conversion, spend, and creative analysis to identify growth/optimization opportunities
    • Familiarity with cross-channel strategies, including online branding

    Work Environment: This position works in a professional office cubicle environment.


    The standard office equipment for this position is a desk- or laptop computer; printer; copier; facsimile machine; file cabinet; and mobile and landline telephone.


    Physical Demands: The Digital Marketing Specialist performs the essential functions of this position in a sedentary manner—sitting. This role requires heavy computer use that involves eye and hand coordination, and repetitive finger movement. The employee may frequently stand, walk, and use hand and arm movement for reaching and retrieving objects. Infrequent light lifting – less than 20 pounds.
